Executive Team

Scott Sanborn
Chief Executive Officer
Scott Sanborn is CEO of LendingClub. Appointed in June 2016, he was charged by the Board of Directors with transforming the company and bringing a heightened degree of transparency and disciplined growth to LendingClub operations.

A six year veteran of the company, Scott previously held the roles of President, Chief Marketing Officer, and Chief Operations Officer. He helped lead the company through a prolonged period of triple digit growth that led to its 2014 IPO, and has been a driving force in the management and development of the organization.

Before joining LendingClub, Scott was the Chief Marketing and Revenue Officer for eHealth Insurance, a publicly traded ecommerce company, where he helped create double digit growth in revenue and new customer acquisition. His earlier roles included having been President of RedEnvelope, Inc., an e-commerce and catalogue retailer of upscale gifts, and Senior Vice President of Marketing for the Home Shopping Network, a television and internet retailer of consumer products.

Scott holds a BS from Tufts University.
Tom Casey
Chief Financial Officer
Tom Casey is Chief Financial Officer at Lending Club, responsible for overseeing accounting, financial planning and analysis, treasury, tax, and investor relations.

Before joining Lending Club, Tom was Executive Vice President and CFO at Acelity. Prior to that, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Clear Channel, where he was responsible for overseeing all financial, IT, and shared services activities for the global media and entertainment company specializing in radio, digital, outdoor, mobile, and on demand advertising.

Tom has more than 20 years of experience in financial services, including senior financial leadership roles at GE Capital, Washington Mutual, JP Morgan Chase, and Citicorp.

Tom has a BS degree in accounting from King's College in Wilkes-Barre, PA.

John C. (Hans) Morris
Chairman
Lending Club

John C. (Hans) Morris joined our Board in February 2013.

Hans founded Nyca Partners, a venture capital and advisory company, in 2014 and is the managing partner. From January 2010 until January 2014, he served as a managing director and special advisor at General Atlantic, a growth equity firm. Hans was previously President of Visa, Inc. from 2007 to 2009.

Prior to Visa, he spent 27 years at Citigroup, a banking and financial services company, and its predecessor companies in various leadership positions, with his final position as Chief Financial Officer and Head of Finance, Technology and Operations for Citi Markets and Banking. Hans also serves on the board of directors of KCG Holdings, Inc. and four other privately held companies.

He holds a B.A. in government from Dartmouth College. Hans was chosen to serve on our Board because of his extensive experience in the banking and financial services industry and his financial expertise.
Simon Williams
Former Group General Manager, Wealth Management, HSBC

Simon Williams was Group General Manager, Wealth Management at HSBC. He was a member of HSBC’s RBWM Global Executive Committee and was responsible for leading the development and growth of their wealth management business globally.

Between 1997 and 2006, Simon was on the Management Committee at Citigroup and held a number of senior roles including CEO of International Retail Bank, CRO Global Consumer Group, and CEO Global Consumer Group Asia and Latin America where he navigated the company through the Asia crisis in 1997-1978 and Argentina’s crisis in 2001-2002. He also worked for GE Capital, Bain & Co and Price Waterhouse.

Simon is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants. He graduated with a degree in mathematics from Exeter University and holds an MBA with Distinction from INSEAD.
Dan Ciporin
Canaan Partners

Dan Ciporin has been a member of our Board since August 2007. Dan joined Canaan Partners, an investment firm, in March 2007 and is currently a general partner specializing in digital media, financial technology, and e-commerce investments. From March 2006 to March 2007, he served as Chairman of the Internet Lab. From January 1999 to June 2005, he served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Shopping.com. Prior to Shopping.com, Dan served as Senior Vice President of MasterCard International, where he managed global debit services. He currently serves on the board of directors of several privately-held companies. Previously, Dan served on the board of directors of Borderfree, Inc. from 2010 to 2015, Primedia, Inc. from 2006 to 2011 and Corel Corporation from 2007 to 2010. He holds an A.B. from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs and an M.B.A from Yale University. Dan was chosen to serve on our Board because of his extensive experience in the technology, e-commerce, and consumer credit industries, and his investment and operational expertise.
Timothy J. Mayopoulos
Fannie Mae

Timothy J. Mayopoulos is President and Chief Executive Officer of Fannie Mae, one of the largest providers of mortgage credit in the United States. Tim joined Fannie Mae in 2009, after the company was placed in conservatorship during the financial crisis. He initially served as Fannie Mae’s General Counsel, and in 2010 was named Chief Administrative Officer. He was promoted to CEO in June 2012, and in that role has led the company’s support of the U.S. housing market and its efforts to create a better housing finance system for the future.

Before joining Fannie Mae, Tim was General Counsel of Bank of America, held senior management positions at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, Credit Suisse First Boston, and Deutsche Bank, and practiced law at Davis Polk & Wardwell. Tim is a member of the Boards of Directors of Fannie Mae and SAIC. He is a graduate of Cornell University and the New York University School of Law.
Ken Denman
Former President & CEO, Emotient

Ken Denman is the former President and CEO of Emotient, Inc., a company that develops software for automated facial expression measurement, which was acquired by Apple, Inc. in January 2016. Prior to that he served as CEO for Openwave Systems Inc. (now Unwired Planet) and iPass, Inc. He has also held executive roles at Mediaone Group, Inc., U.S. West Communications Group, and the Battelle Memorial Institute Laboratory. Ken is currently a venture partner at Sway Ventures.

Ken is an active board member for Costco Wholesale Corp., ShoreTel, Inc., Mitek Systems, Inc., and Motorola Systems, Inc., and formerly held board roles with Brightmail, Inc., Emotient, iPass, Inc., Openwave Systems, Inc., and United Online. He served as the Director of the Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association (CTIA) from January 2011 to January 2012, and as a Director of United Online, Inc., from June 2015 to July 2016.

Ken was appointed to the Edward V. Fritzky Endowed Visiting Chair in Leadership at the University of Washington’s Michael G. Foster School of Business in September 2012, is a member of the advisory board at the University of Washington’s Michael G. Foster School of Business, and sits on the board of directors at the University of Washington Foundation. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Central Washington University and an MBA in finance and international business from the University of Washington.
Michael P. Zeisser
Former Chairman, U.S. Investments for Alibaba Group

Michael Zeisser is a longstanding investor in founder-led disruptive growth companies, with a particular focus on experience economy companies and consumer marketplaces. Until April 2018, he was Chairman, U.S. Investments for Alibaba Group and led Alibaba’s strategic investments outside of Asia. Mr. Zeisser joined Alibaba in 2013 prior to its historic IPO and was Alibaba’s most senior executive in the Americas. Before Alibaba Group, Mr. Zeisser spent almost a decade working at Liberty Media Corporation, where he led investments in digital media, online gaming, and commerce. Prior to joining Liberty Media in 2003, he was a partner at McKinsey & Company in New York.

Mr. Zeisser has considerable governance experience, currently serves on the boards of Shutterfly and a number of privately held companies, and has previously served on the boards of Trip Advisor, IAC, TIME Inc. and XO Group. Mr. Zeisser graduated from the University of Strasbourg, France and the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
